Program Mission:

The Safety Technology program is committed to providing a broad range of Safety Technology skills designed to meet student aspirations and the needs of the business community. This program endeavors to help students attain their highest educational goals and to provide them a firm foundation in Safety Technology practices and a firm value based foundation for lifelong learning and a career in Safety Technology

Program Objectives:

The Associate Degree in Safety Technology has the following educational objectives:

  • To prepare graduates that can take entry-level positions in the health and safety field.
  • To prepare graduates that are able to pursue higher education and lifelong learning.
  • To enhance graduates' ability to fulfill long-term goals in professional and educational development
     
Program Outcomes:

Upon completion of the Associate Degree program in Safety Technology Program, the graduate should be able to:
  • Explain the fundamental aspects of occupational safety and environmental health issues.
  • Describe standards, codes, procedures or regulations necessary for safety professional practice.
  • Formulate, and solve broadly defined technical or scientific problems by applying knowledge of mathematics and science and/or technical topics to areas relevant to the discipline.
  • Conduct experiments (or standard tests) as well as to analyze and interpret data.
  • Show ethical and responsible behavior.
  • Function effectively as member of a team.
  • Demonstrate effective written, oral and graphical communication skills.
Professional Occupations:

After completing the program, students may take up any occupational safety and health profession such as:
  • Occupational safety and health specialist.
  • HSE Safety Officer.
  • Safety and Health Manager
  • Fire Safety Specialist.
  • Safety Quality Assurance Officer.
  • Accident Investigation and Prevention Specialist.
  • Emergency Management Officers/Specialist.
  • Industrial Hygienist.

    Safety Technology Summer Internship
This is a summer internship experience for Safety Technology students. Under the instructor’s supervision, each student must participate in a structured period of eight weeks in the Safety Technology section in a selected economic organization. The course is designed to provide each student with the necessary education, technical, and people skills to be successful in an Safety Technology position. The student must write a report about his summer internship.
