BRIEF COURSE DESCRIPTION

CAD 110: Architectural Graphics-I

This course introduces drafting techniques and graphical communication methods in architectural

design and presentation. These include: drawing tools and materials; sketching & lettering;

architectural drafting conventions; orthographic projections, dimensioning and drawing notations.

 

CAD 120: Introduction to CAD

This course introduces the use of computers and AutoCAD software to create basic drawings,

architectural and engineering drawings in accordance with industry standards.

 

CAD 130: Building Construction Drawings

An introduction to construction drawings of buildings, their aim, requirements and standards is provided

in this course. Drawing basic civil and other construction drawings of various building components at

various scales are introduced and practiced in this course.

 

CAD 140: Advanced CAD

This course elaborates the usage of various CAD programs in union to develop professional quality

 presentation drawings and models for quality views and animations. The course also introduces

students to 3D modeling using AutoCAD, 3D Max and other similar computer programs.

 

CAD 150: Building Systems Drawings

This course introduces various building systems used in buildings, their types and limitations. Drawings

of various systems such as mechanical components, electrical, plumbing, HVAC system drawings are

introduced and practiced in this course

 

CAD 160: Working/Shop Drawings

This course deals with exposing students with realistic construction drawings and shop drawings of

construction components. A complete set of working drawings of a simple residential building is

developed by students in their project work.

 

CAD 170: Contracts and Specifications

This course exposes students to the necessary professional documentation of building components,

their understanding, elaboration and creation. Utilizing case studies and examples students are exposed

to basics of building economics as well as the financial implications the real estate apparatus.
